We doggedly continued to explore Taiwan in the aftermath of the food poisoning that continued to last well after our return to Guangzhou. After a week, our greatest impressions are of how warm and friendly the people are and how much natural beauty exists in Taiwan. We did manage to visit some tourist sights like the National Museum, the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial, the Taipei Zoo and Maokong Gondola but it was truly its natural scenic spots that were the highlights for our visit. See for yourself.
BEITOU THERMAL VALLEY
A MTR ride and a nice short walk gets you to the thermal valley
Pretty walk to the hot springs
Hot enough to boil an egg (which the locals use to do here)
ELEPHANT MOUNTAIN
Start of the hike up Elephant Mountain
There were a lot of stairs. A challenge given our weak state.
The beauty kept us going

TAIWAN COAST + YEHLIU GEOPARK
View of coastline on the way to Jiufen and Yehliu
Stop at waterfalls on the way. Unfortunately I cannot recall the name of these falls.
Breathtaking Yehliu Coast
Strong waves
Yehliu Geopark
Yehliu coast with rock formations in the background
Created by the force of nature
One of many fossils imbedded in the rocks
Out of this world scenery at Yehliu
Wow, looks really nice

So sorry you had to battle food poisoning…. Glad I wasn’t there for that. Beautiful scenery but what stands out the most is the Nico is starting to look like a big boy. He’s getting tall and thin… No more little man chubbies.

Beautiful country. Sorry you were not feeling well during some of this visit. I agree with Kim…can not believe how big both the kids are getting.

Great photos! Very sorry about the food poisoning. We’ve had three rounds of stomach flu (had to cancel our Thanksgiving vacation, but attempted to go anyway, resulting in a very bad night/ morning in a hotel in Vegas, and a long drive back the next day).
Not fun at all.
